Biocide for Use as Wood Preservative (PT 8)

Basic Copper Carbonate (BCC) is used as a preventive fungicidal and insecticidal active ingredient in chemical wood preservation in the use classes 1, 2, 3 and 4-1, as described in
EN 335.


In accordance with the directive 2012/2/EU of the commission the inclusion of copper carbonate, basic in Annex I of the Directive 98/8/EC was agreed upon starting on 01 Feb. 2014.


Basic Copper Carbonate is produced at the production facility of Spiess-Urania Chemicals in Hamburg and is used by the manufacturers of wood preservative products in different aqueous systems. The application is used in vacuum pressure impregnation or dipping and is limited to industrial use.
